“He trains my hands for war.” (Psalm 18:34)
God trains our hands for war. What war? Not a war of violence and bloodshed.
“For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ.” (2 Corinthians 10:3-5)
Paul was speaking about the war in the church in Corinth against false teachers spreading lies against God’s Word. The war is the “knowledge of God” against the arguments and opinions of those who oppose his Word. We want all thinking to be obedient to Christ.
Pray for God to train your hands for war by his teachers, his Word, and his Spirit. This means learning how to “take every thought captive to obey Christ.” This means receiving God’s power “to destroy strongholds” of opposition to God’s Word.
